The lands of the Kulin people near Melbourne, are referred to as the ‘cold country’. The Kulin have a detailed local understanding of the seasons and the environment. Each season is marked by the movement of the stars in the night sky and changes in the weather, coinciding with the life cycles of plants and animals(source: Museum Victoria). These paintings are inspired by the colours and textures of the different times in the vineyard at 916. They are painted by Christine Mullen who lived at “Full and Plenty” in the early to late 2000s.
